3D TV is finally here. The first model to launch is the SAMSUNG 40C7000. To counteract the inevitable lack of “real” 3D material at this stage, the 40C7000 has a clever “2D-3D” processing engine that will upgrade standard images to 3D. Clearly, you can’t expect this upscaling to be as good as properly mastered 3D material, but at least it’s something until 3D Blu Ray’s and Sky’s 3D channel launch in the coming months. The TV is designed to be used with Samsung;s “Active Shutter” 3D glasses – the bad news is that they cost £100 each and don’t come supplied with the set.
